Outstanding Website

Covenant House provides shelter and care to homeless children in locations the United States, Canada and Latin America. Last year, Covenant House needed a website that could grow with the organization, take advantage of new technology and focus on the core of its mission – helping homeless kids. To get to the heart of Covenant House’s work, we designed a large slider that dynamically fades in order to tell the different stories of their kids. A textured background is used to evoke the grittiness of life on the street. The three main actions that CH requires as part of their user experience are highlighted as call-outs: • A highly visible “Get Help” tab makes it easy for kids in need to contact Covenant House for assistance. • “Give Now” donate buttons are present on each page which lead to an attractive, simple donation page featuring a variety of giving options and a design consistent with the rest of the website. • The “Our Kids” story page includes multimedia features using audio and video. This truly brings the work of Covenant House to life. The new site was built using Drupal 7, allowing intuitive ease of use for the client. It was developed further for custom donation processing, tracking, and site analytics. Some special features include a shopping cart platform for the robust gift catalog system (allowing donors to purchase tangible gift items for homeless kids in need) and a custom eCard system (allowing users to send ecards that support Covenant House kids). Since launching in 2012, the redesigned Covenant House site has consistently outperformed the previous site for fundraising.
