Why an Internet Advertising Competition?

According to the Interactive Advertising Bureau, Internet ad revenue may have reached $17 billion in 2012 and continues to grow. As spending increases, creative agencies need ways to objectively demonstrate to advertisers their ability to create outstanding online marketing materials. Winning awards is one excellent way to accomplish this.

The Web Marketing Association (WMA) was founded in Boston in 1997 to help set a high standard for Internet marketing and corporate web development on the World Wide Web. Staffed by volunteers, this organization is made up of Internet marketing, advertising, PR and design professionals who share an interest for improving the quality of advertising, marketing and promotion used to attract visitors to corporate Web sites.

In 1999, the Web Marketing Association decided to create a new award program to recognize outstanding online advertising in all of its various forms. While many advertising award shows had a category for online, no program was dedicated to it.

So using the experiences from its highly successful WebAward competition for website development, the WMA created an award program where companies and individuals could enter their best work to be judged against other work in its own industry. The IAC Awards were born.

Now more than ever, marketing on the Internet is a competitive environment. Corporate marketing and Internet professionals constantly need to validate their efforts and provide clients and senior management with independent feedback as to the quality of the work being performed. Clients see quality in "award-winning" advertising and a list of awards can help to draw new clients to a firm seeking to establish or maintain its expertise in new media advertising on the Internet.

All winners will have their entry highlighted on the Internet Advertising Competition web site and an on a personal award page that recognizes all of the participants on an entry. The winners in each industry will also receive a handsome trophy to display or a personalized Certificate of Achievement. They will also earn the right to say they have created “award winning” online advertising!
