The Challenge In order to provide moms with easy weeknight dinner solutions as well as motivate them to cook with their children, we created a lively collection of videos of mothers and their kids cooking Chef Boyardee recipes and placed them alongside easy-to-follow directions and tips on how moms can use aspects of cooking to teach other lessons. The videos created a genuine and inspiring portrayal of cooking moments in the kitchen. Our challenge was to integrate all the videos into one comprehensive user experience that not only showcased the inspiring videos, but that also contextualized the Chef brand into larger teaching opportunities for families. The Solution A special section on ChefBoyardee.com and HTML5—and the great user experience it allows—provided the answer. Prominent but simple navigational cues help users to quickly intuit the necessary scrolling movements, and as they move through the Little Chefs Project experience the elegant parallax motion effects bring messaging on and off the screen, presenting users with navigational choices throughout. The video content is engaging and useful on its own, but it’s made more compelling and immediate through the power of HTML5.
