In an effort to educate Canadians on mortgage products, Scotiabank created a calculator and corresponding whiteboard video to help explain the benefits of the Scotia Total Equity Plan (STEP). The web tool is fully adaptive and shows users how they can unlock the equity in their home through the STEP program. The animated whiteboard video launched from the landing page helps to explain the complex program in an easy to understand and fun way. Advisors use the video to help with their clients' understanding of the program and use the tool to illustrate the benefits - providing an unbiased personalized customer experience. Users can input their home and mortgage/loan details, as well as their future plans and goals. The tool then calculates how much borrowing power they have available to use to put towards their goals. A slider on the graph also "future-proofs" the program allowing users to see into the future and plan milestones accordingly. Users can also print out a custom report that summarizes their details and borrowing power.
