With healthy equity being one of the core values of the organization, BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee recognized the best way to address health disparities among minority populations is to first understand the scope of the challenge. Their first-ever Health Equity Report was published in January 2023 to identify and track 20 of the top health metrics for more than two million members. This report, published online at bcbst.com/healthequity, examines what we know about health inequities among Tennesseans, discusses what the organization is doing to eliminate health disparities, and provides an invaluable resource for medical professionals and organizations who also believe in equitable healthcare for all. It is arguably the first of it’s kind.
